Prolozone® is an injection technique practiced by several hundred doctors in the US. It was pioneered by Dr. Frank Shallenberger who conducts workshops and trainings to teach other physicians this healing modality. It utilizes the healing properties of medical grade ozone along with some collagen producing substances which combine to start the healing process. It works in both joints and soft tissue. Generally all forms of musculo-skeletal and joint pain will respond. This includes chronic neck and back pain, shoulder pain, hip and knee pain, wrists, elbows and even plantar fasciitis—basically any joint or soft tissue. Because in many cases Prolozone actually corrects the underlying pathology (rather than masking symptoms like corticosteroid injections) , there is a 75% chance for the chronic pain sufferer to becoming permanently pain free—AND to avoid joint replacement surgery.
It is important to understand what the word Prolozone actually means. The prolo part is derived from “proli” which means to regenerate or rebuild and “ozone” refers to O3– is a highly reactive molecule which, when injected into a joint or soft tissue, is able to stimulate fibroblast repairing abilities.
Joints are susceptible to stress, wear and tear, and aging just like the rest of our body. But because they are moving parts, they must remain flexible and be able to absorb pressure. If there is any injury to the joint, repair is unlikely to occur if there is a lack of nutrients, poor circulation, inflammation, or just from general aging.
Mainstream medicine generally has two modalities to address arthritis where there is significant pain and loss of function: steroid injections and joint replacement surgery. Neither one fixes the root cause which is degeneration. Prolozone therapy, because it is directly addressing the degeneration by stimulating regrowth of the cartilage, relieves pain through a healing process—not suppressing symptoms with steroids or replacing joints with metal.
If you have any issues with arthritis, stiffness, or pain in a joint, contact us for Prolozone treatment. Results are of course not guaranteed but the majority of our patients who receive Prolozone therapy experience improvement and in most cases are able to avoid more toxic or more expensive procedures.
